Great Scott Redevelopment

Noannet and CambridgeSeven have teamed up once again to create a new mixed-use building that will bring back to life Allston’s legendary Great Scott music hall.  For many decades, Great Scott was one of the country’s most iconic live music venues.  Before they became household names, everyone from MGMT to Leon Bridges, from Charli XCX to Greta Van Fleet, from Gary Clark Jr to Jack Harlow, from Phoebe Bridgers to Nathaniel Rateliff, from Grouplove to Khruangbin, not to mention comedians from Marc Maron to Nate Bargatze, performed from the Great Scott stage.  When industry publication Consequence of Sound ranked the Top 100 venues in America, Great Scott was among the Top 10, alongside such other icons as Colorado’s Red Rocks, Manhattan’s Bowery Ballroom and San Francisco’s The Fillmore.

Sadly, Great Scott closed during the pandemic and was unable to reopen.  Now, together with music industry veterans Paul Armstrong and Carl Lavin, Noannet is bringing Great Scott back as part of a new 9-story building that will also include the beloved 70-person local music venue O’Brien’s Pub, together with 139 units of rental housing and additional retail space.  This project was approved by the City of Boston in April 2025 and is targeting groundbreaking by late 2025-early 2026.
